Transferring video from Sony DCR TRV 285E to PC

Hello guys...
I need to transfer videos from the mentioned cam to pc.Do i need a firefwire card ? wont usb do...?

Tried using USB but video is small resolution in sony picture packge ...also tried in pinnacle but video is of high res 720X480 but very blurry and soft looks like upsaceld 320X240 video.
If using fierfire what software shoudl be used to tranfer the video ..?

can someone who already has this camera upload a small clip of highest resolution to video hosting sites so as to check for quality.

There is no much difference between a firewire and USB 2.0 capture. And almost there is nothing to do about quality in video capture medium unless you are dropping frames.

The quality degrades because of the Codec. Which codec you are using to capture the video and Which software?
