how to transfer contacts from android phone to gmail account?

First & foremost an active internet connection is required & you should be logged in.,Then go to > Settings > ACCOUNTS & SYNC SETTINGS > Enable Background Data > Auto-Sync (And click on the below displayed account to choose what to sync, Contacts-Gmail-Calendar-Picasa Web Albums...etc., it may take time depending on your type of connection & speed.)

i did that but they are not added in the gmail
