The BIGGEST problem in my "LIFE of PC"!!!!!!

" It'S iN tHe GaMe..."
Hey guys!! I ran into a PC trouble after a long time and that too a BIG one!!

So i was playing Batman Arkham City on my PC which has been a daily routine since the past week and suddenly the game freezes and the PC shuts down with a BSOD saying "Memory_Management". I restart the PC, works fine for a while, crashes again saying "System_Service_Exception". So i restart, again, and pull out all my documents from c: and put them in other drives for safety. The PC restarts again with "Memory_Management".

So i wanted to format my PC and get rid of these errors. I had a Windows 8 RTM Build 9200 Trial disc so i installed it (BSOD during installation, don't remember what). Start installation again and completed successfully..Worked nicely..installed apps like Google Chrome, CCleaner and yes there was no sound so i installed the Windows 7 Audio driver for my Mobo (Intel DG41 RQ) as Windows 8 drivers weren't available.

After that, hell broke loose and the following BSOD errors keep coming randomly:

1. "Memory_Management"
2. "System_Service_Exception"
3. "NTFS.Sys"
4. "KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR"

And on top of all this, i cannot even start my PC now, says BOOTMGR missing. I tried re-installing Win 7 and 8 but getting interrupted by these BSODs.

The "Memory_Management" error is the most frequent occurance among all the above.

I alos tried the SFC /SCANNOW command when the PC was working but the process never completed and sometimes didn't even start.

SAVE MY PC!!!PLEASE!!

P.S. -> I couldn't decide whether to post this in the hardware section or here. If i am wrong please move the thread to the appropriate location.

Its either a memory or HDD issue by the looks of it.

If your BIOS has some sort of RAM/HDD checking feature, run it.

Else you can use memtest86 to check the RAM, there must be something similar available for the HDD too, though I am not aware of it.

Most probable is hard disk problem. Try plugging out hard drive and then connecting to any other pc. Check if it shows up in my computer and then format each drive. Plug it back in ur computer and install win 7. No NO for win 8 since u don't have audio drivers.

Are you sure crashes started to occur *only* after you installed Win7 audio drivers on Win8? However, KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR bugcheck happens when Windows detects bad blocks in paging file that's fetched either from HDD or RAM itself. Next step would be to check HDD and RAM:
1) Run chkdsk C: /f /x command and reboot. Windows runs chkdsk during bootup.
2) Later, you can use tools like HDTune (HD Tune website) and/or SeaTools (SeaTools | Seagate) to check HDD for errors.
3) Check RAM by running Memtest86 (Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool).

It is pretty clear that issue is with RAM/HDD. Because @OP got BSOD with Win 7 also, so he decided to install Win 8 and yet again, the BSOD pops out. So better check your HDD with another PC, if you have 2 RAM sticks ,try with one at a time.

I ran Memtest86+ ver. 4.20 from a bootable disc. It ran all night for around ten hours and was still not stopping so i had to manually stop it as i was getting late for work I am posting some pics i took while the test was running. I have 2 x 2GB sticks (Strontium and Zion).

I'll be hooking up the hard disk to my friends pc tomorrow night.

Unplug one memory module and rerun memory test.
if still showing error remove the memory module and plug only 2nd one and. test.
one of the module is faulty

^^ He tried to run with both sticks and it is working fine. So issue might be with the HDD.

@Rajesh
Even i used to get some errors like that but it runs well.

Anyway, for safer side, he can do what you suggested and run test for individual memory sticks to narrow down the problem area.

I'll do the test with individual sticks tonight.

Meanwhile, i have downloaded HD Tune. Does it work like Memtest?? I mean can i check for errors preboot like memtest does??

Well...i don't know what happened but as per your suggestions i tested the RAM sticks one by one...Memtest returned 0 errors. So i decided to give the OS installation a try with a single stick, and it freaking worked :D I am running the PC for straight 18 hrs till now and no BSODs just the reduced RAM. Working fine. I checked the HDD with HDTune and did not get any errors on any disk. Although i did a quick scan, i will be doing a full scan tonight. I am not worrying now as i have done backups of imp stuff. Thanks guys for your help. Cheers.!!!!!
