System Upgrade Recommendations

Hello guys

I'm an Animator and Graphic designer and I want to upgrade my PC . I'll be using my computer mostly for 3D animations which requires a lot of rendering . I don't play that many games and I'll be using the PC for other basic stuff (movies,music,internet...)
I'll be working with software like Maya,Photoshop,Premier/after effects,Flash, dreamweaver and maybe Z Brush and Cinema 4D later on.It would be really great if you guys could recommend a decent configuration .

what I need

Motherboard
Processor
RAM
PSU

I have a 160 gb HDD and 500 gb ext HDD so I'm not upgrading that right now . I'm not buying a new monitor as I can manage with my ViewSonic CRT monitor for now .

My budget
22000 to 25000

one of my friends suggested this configuration

Intel Core i3-530 (2.93 GHz)
Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3L Motherboard
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD5670 11168-02 512MB GDDR5 Graphics Card
Cooler Master Elite 310 Cabinet
Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 460W SMPS
Gskill Ripjaws Series 2x2GB DDR3 1333MHz F3-10666CL9D-4GBRL Desktop Memory

all that comes for around 28000 , I personally prefer the intel i3 processor . looking forward to suggestions from members here . btw , this is my first post here so sorry if I've broken any rules ..

Don't go for cooler master extreme power psu. Go for real power series or choose corsair for psu.
Also don't spend too much on a cabinet that you would be keeping under the desk. Won't you be needing a quadro for maya etc.

Cooler Master Elite 310 Cabinet comes for around 1,728 Rupees and Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus for 2,754 . Please suggest something better if it's not good . I just posted the cabinet , I don't really want to spend that much on it . I'm not gonna buy everything in that configuration and I don't know much about hardware so please recommend something good or better if you can .

thanks

btw , I haven't heard much about Gskill (RAM) , is it good? I didn't search for Transcend or Kingston so I don't know much about the price and quality differences

Gskill is a company similar to others in terms of quality and standards. But you can opt for any known good company which gives you a good warranty. Just quick to a dealer near you who is known for good warranty and replacement service.
For a cabinet, if you don't want cosmetic galore then you can opt for any cheap cabinet availabe at your retailer. But make sure that it is strong and has good build quality. If you don't want to do such research about cabinets then go for cooler master since now it has become more affordable.
Indian brands you can check are zebronics and iball.
In all i'd advice you to pay more attention on motherboard, cpu and gpu and most importantly psu.

I think I might buy Gskill if the price is better in comparison. I'm not concentrating on Cabinet as I'll just decide what to buy after looking at a few options available at the shop. What about the motherboard (Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3L) ? please suggest a good PSU , how much does corsair cost ?

AMD Athlon II X4 635 would be better than the Core i3-530 for your requirements.

Lastly, avoid Cooler Master PSUs; get Gigabyte 460w @ 2k or FSP Saga II 400w @ 2k or FSP Saga II 500w @ 2.3k. Corsair CX400 will cost 2.7k and is very good.

If you are ready to spend 28k, then please also have a look at this:

AMD Phenom II X6 1055t @ 9.5k
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H @ 4.5k
HD 5670 - 6k
2*2GB Kingston/G.skill DDR3 1333Mhz RAM - 4.8k
Gigabyte 460w - 2k
CM Elite 310 - 1.5k

Ico provided a very good solution jasonbourne, go with that. Surely Core i3 is not better than Athlon II 635 and priced higher than it. 2ndly budget H55 mobos are missing goodies like USB 3 and SATA 3.

My suggestion would be

Athlon II X4 635 2.9GHz @ 4.8k
MSI 880GMA-E45 @ 5.8k
2X2 GB Kingston 1333 MHz DDR3 @ 4.2k
Corsair VX450W @ 3.8k
Zotac GTS450 1GB GDDR5 @ 8.2k or Asus EAH 5750 FORMULA 1GB GDDR5 @ 7.5k

Total 26.8k. You can reduce the price by going for the Gigabyte motherboard suggested by Ico, but with only 1k extra you will get USB 3 and SATA 3 support. So I recommend you the MSI one for future compatibility. And regarding DDR3 ram price, yes they have been reduced a lot. You can find them @ 2k price range also.

If you prefer an Intel config-
i5 760
ASUS P7H55 ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
2x 2GB DDR3 1333MHz
GTS450/HD5670
Corsair VX450/CX400
NZXT Gamma/CM Elite 310
A bit expensive for your budget but a powerful yet VFM mix&match of components for your 3D rendering and other requirements imho.

sometime back it was listed on smcinternational website for 4.5k also.
ask smc and they will give you the price. dont go by their website as most products are not listed there.

I really prefer the intel processor

how does this configuration look ? I like the board Pegasus recommended and Gigabyte boards are not that easily available here .

Asus P7H55D-M PRO price is 6200 to 6500
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD5670 1GB - 5900 or ( GeForce GT 240 1GB - 4800 )
Corsair DDR3 RAM 4GB - price (5000 to 5500)
Corsair VX 450w PSU - 4000
Intel i3 core processor - 5300 (might go for i5 if it's cheap)

this is not the final price , prices are different according to various dealers so I'll try to select the shop which offers the best price and discounts .the total is around 26 to 27 thousand Rupees . Can someone suggest a good Nvidia Graphics card also ? this particular Card GeForce GT 240 comes around for 4800 which is cheaper than ATI .

btw , is anyone here using the Intel® Desktop Board DP55KG ? it looks awesome and the price is 10800 to 11000 but too costly for my budget :(

only 1k extra you will get USB 3 and SATA 3 support. So I recommend you the MSI one for future compatibility.

I asked one of my friends who assembles systems and he said that MSI 880GMA-E45 is getting some consumer complaints (something to do with over heating while working for long hours...i dunno)

I will probably buy i3 xd... anyways ,
I will use this system for gaming too although I haven't really played that many games before . I was looking forward to some comments on GeForce GT 240 1GB . I asked one of the dealers and it comes for around 4800 + . Is it a good combination for Samsung 2233SW LCD monitor? (I might buy the monitor too )

I really dun think so dude coz shops hv both 9500 n 240!!Moreover 9500 hs 32 stream processors as compared to 96 of 240!!

GT240 is a completely different product and it is no where related to 9500GT.

1st of all 9500GT is based on 55nm fabrication process whereas GT240 is 40nm.
2ndly it supports Dx 10.1 whereas 9500GT is DX10. Thirdly it is having 96 Processing cores compared to 32 of 9500GT.
It is also having enhanced GPGPU computing capability due to double precision floating point calculation ability.
The most differentiable thing is GT240 can be used with GDDR3 as well as high performance GDDR5 memory whereas 9500GT can use GDDR3 max.

so GT240 is a good choice? many have recommended that to me .

Oh no HD5670 is better than 240!!The above few posts were to point out the difference between 240 n 9500 to 1 of the forum member who mistook 240 to be rebranded 9500!!
But in performance HD5670 is better than 240!!
