for setting the resolution properly,You may need to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf file.read below sticky:

The error message 'Out of frequency" refer to settings your Monitor to a higher
resolution , which it doesn't support. You may set a resolution of '1024x768'.
So edit the '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' file in text mode using vi editor and save the file.
Now load the X GUI using the command :
$ startx
(This will load the X GUI).

^ Even setting higher resolutions may work, but a wrong horizontal/vertical
frequency and refresh rate setting in xorg.conf will never! The problem is most
like a wrong frequency range and/or refresh rate setting.

@OP, remember to keep display manual handly when doing Linux installations.
In care of LCDs, never set the refresh rate above 60Hz at the time of installation.

Of course, you ca always fall back to defaults once the OS has installed properly.
