Guys

I want some soft music which can be played in room while working or relaxing. I have listened such kind of music in clinics and libraries.

I searched but could not find satisfactory results. Does anyone have such kind of music clips? If yes, I'll be very thankful, if you guys upload it somewhere and provide links in this thread.

The RainMan End titles music. I watched the movie yesterday. It is one of the best from the hands of zimmer.

Just go for instrumentals of Old/New Hindi melodies. I personally found that they have much more effect on mind then those Non Hindies ones.

I normally prefer classic rock for such occations.

I suggest:

Pink Floyd (Comfortably Numb, Wearing The Inside Out, Poles Apart, Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun, Wish You Were Here, Remember A Day, etc)

Led Zeppelin (Kashmir, Stairway To Heaven, White Summer - Black Mountain Side Medley, Bron-Yr-Aur, In The Evening, etc)

The Eagles (The entire Hotel California Album is an excellent example)

Pink Floyd has several brilliant songs which can be highly effective in achieving an ambient thoughtful atmosphere. Just a personal opinion.

Led Zepplin is not really a good choice for soft background music. Although I am all for the one track: Black Mountain Side from that list.

Beethoven\Mozart\Bach\Franz Schubert (basically any romantic era composer)

some of the OSTs that come to mind are :

In the mood for love <--Perticularly good IMO

A Clockwork Orange

and the latest Inglourious Basterds.

Western Classical is not romantic era :???:

@Vishal
Go for any Kenny G's compilations. Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Tchekovsky or even Schubert would be good, though you wont get them easily. (available as compilation CDs last time I checked at Planet M)

On a new age note, I'd highly recommend Yanni. Live concerts of his are the best option like Live in Acropolis or The Concert Event!
Check out Acroyali (also called Standing in Motion) and Santorini (my favourite . .I bet if any of you would have heard this song you would definitely find it familiar)

What you're looking for can be generally classified as Ambient music

I would suggest you to look up some Drone Ambient artists like:

Oophoi
Steve Roach
Robert Rich
Aidan Baker

Amethystium (More like newage but great for listening nonetheless)
Bruno Sanfilippo
Elend
Klaus Schulze
Mathis Grassow
(My personal favorite in this particular genre)
Vidna Obmana

This should keep you busy for a while. These are highly prolific artists so i suggest you check their myspaces out first before jumping to downloading their massive discographies :D
