Ram questions!

Hey!
I recently bought 4gb 1600mhz Gskill ripjaws x ram.
It is an already established fact that rams work better when they are in Dual channel so i have decided to buy another 4gb gskill ram.
What i want to know is will the new ram stick be able to work with the old one in dual channel?How similar do they have to be (as in same mhz,same cas latency)?
Or should i sell my old ram and buy a new 4gb x 2 set?

Just get the identical ram. It should be of same capacity, same timing.

Timing as in 9-9-9-24 that kind of thing right?
And they will work in dual channel automatically?

get the same 4gb ram.it will run in dual channel without any problem.

consult motherboard manual ^ color code for ram slots are not identical to board to board.

Red and blue color were used just as an example.

If you have just 2 ram slots, then they will work in dual channel mode automaticaly. if you have 4 slots, then insert the two rams in same colored slots, i.e., if you have <red><blue><red><blue> slots, the insert both sticks in either red or blue slots.

All motherboards do that AFAIK.
