Problm while upgrading ICS

My Samsung Kies cannot upgrade my wife's galaxy S2 to ICS as it shows "Your current device does not support upgrading via kies". This is crap. My mom's galaxy S2 was purchased from UK and I successfully upgraded her's to ICS but this indian edition has wiered firmware

This is the firmware information. I am still using old crappy Gingerbread

Better would be asking the service center guys to update it...as they will flash the phone with ICS and its better than upgrading.

Is it mandatory to connect your phone with Kies? Better if you can ask about the same from customer care guys once because HTC has different procedure to upgrade even Sony too. You may update it without connecting your device from Samsung Kies; confirm it once.
