p4 CPU does not support anything above 400mhz ddr ram. so no, you can't get any motherboard for that p4 to run a ddr3 ram environment.

You have your old DDR RAM. So, just for downloading even a 256MB RAM will do. And instead of spending 3k on a motherboard, better spend 1k more and get a Intel Atom combo for 4k. Its best suited for downloading as power consumption is far lower than P4.
But if you dont wanna spend that much then get a P4 supporting mobo from Zebronics and run your PC. It will cost around 1.5k only. Spending 3k for new mobo that to for a P4 is foolishness.

thank you for reply guys.
Yeah i have old 512mb DDR Memory, 160HD, iball cabi with psu..and a CRT monitor.
So was just thinking that instead of keeping it like junk why not use it. Its resale value is nothing, so why not use it..
