Right off the assembly line
Hi Experts,
Last night my 10 year old workstation died, can get it majorly repaired, but it has minor issues every week.
and its outdated now, so i want to buy a new pc today, client deadlines on head.
You must be asking if i am doing pro work, why i need advise ?
Its simple, i am using it from last 10 years, so kind of OLDIE, my knowledge about hardware is OLD
and hence looking for expert advise from who are connected with latest tech CURRENTLY.
1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Not for Gaming, office work only.
1. Pro Level - Graphics Design (Illustrator, Photoshop, Corel) No 3D MAX, No Maya
2. Pro Level - Video Editing (Premier/Aftereffect, Finalcut pro)
2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 60 to 80, including new TFT
3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: Not sure
4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Win 7 Ultimate (64 bit) / Win 8
5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: SSD 120 to 250 GB reliable and 1 TB HDD reliable
6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans:
around 21 inch which has great resolution for video and graphics work, zero flickr/less lag time
7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: DVD Drive, Graphics VCard, UPS
8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Today
9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Assembled, and a bit I know, but more or less it will be by hardware guy, rest software/installation I can take care
10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Dehradun, Most probably Local, But open to online for a good deal
11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I read your forums, and seems to settle upon, not final
intel i7 - confused with 4th and 5th gen (hardware shop suggest 4790K) what you suggest
Min 8x2 Corsair vengeance RAM (16 GB) - its has so many variations and MHz, what you suggest
Confused aabout SMPS , 500 or 650 or 800, which company, they seems to be very expensive
i have geforce 8500, is it ok for current pc, i can use old one, or buy new ?
Need decent robust cabinet - cooler master so many options, confused ?
Cabinet with Zero sound, robust, cooling required ? for video/graphics editing
Need mother board for video, sound editing support (mother board hardware shop suggested - Z97), what you suggest
Keyboard mouse - wireless (mechanical i read Ritcom e) - what you suggest
PLEASE UNDERSTAND MY REQUIREMENT IS ROBUST WORKSTATION FOR OFFICAL WORK - GRAPHICS AND VIDEO,
I DONT PLAY GAME IN PC AT ALL (BUT IN PS3)
Thanks for your time...
Will post photos of my new PC once i buy today.... hopefully
regards
