Ok..long story..:)

My sister’s old P3’s mobo has gone up in smoke and I need to get a new CPU/mobo for her.

P3’s config is
P3 1Gig
256MB RAM
40 GB IDE HDD
DVD Writer

I have a
Pentium D 2.8
ASUS Mobo (P5LD2VM-SE)
1GB DDR2 RAM
250GB SATA HDD
DVD Writer
XFX 8400GS

My current Mobo has only 2 RAM slots (filled with 2 x 512 MB RAM), so no room to upgrade RAM. Max capacity of mobo is 2GB anyway.

So I was planning to give a new Celeron or Pentium Dual Core E2140 + my current mobo (P5LD2VM-SE) + my current RAM (2x512 MB 533Mhz DDR2) to my sis and get a new mobo myself.

I’ll be keeping the rest of my system as it is (including the Pentium D) I’m looking for a mobo that is of

1)Reasonable cost. I don’t want a high end mobo since anyway I’ll be using my Pentium D which is a bottleneck in itself.
2)Should have atleast 4 RAM slots
3)Need not have onboard graphics as I have a PCI-e XFX 8400GS
4)Should be as future proof as possible. Maybe I’ll upgrade to a dual core or quad core processor later. Cost preferably less than 4.5k.
5)Would prefer a micro atx mobo so that I can keep my current cabinet which is micro ATX. But I can compromise on this.

Any suggestions on what would be most suitable? I currently have my eyes on XFX 650i ultra.

One more question – are VIA processors/boards available in India?

I was looking at this one (VIA CN700).

If I can get it, I need not get another SMPS, I can re-use the 20pin ATX power supply of the P3. My sis uses her PC just for browsing alone so the barest minimum config will do fine.

Get asus M2N one.Its good and has nVidia core o better gfx performance it does not have 4 slots but each slot supports 2 GiG ddr2.But it seems to have problems when 4 GB of ram is used.

I'll need a mobo for Intel not AMD since I have a Pentium D. Asus M2N is for AMD
