Hi All,

I currently have a 512 mb HD 4850 which so far has been doing ok expect for the heat issue. i am thinking for buying a 6670 1 GB DDR 5 but i am not sure if its worth an upgrade.

Please suggest if i should stick around with my current card or should i just go with 6670.

My HD 4850 is getting power from my corsair PSU, if i am not wrong the 6670 sucks power from the PCIe slot.

sorry if i am asking dumb stuff, Looking forward to your response.

Thanks in advance

Regards,
Sandeep

^^ keep using it. try to open the GPU and apply fresh coat of TIM. this should reduce temperature by a few degrees. later upgrade to HD7790 (if they ever launch) or HD7850.

i thing it won't be a upgrade really, like other said, clean dusts, re-apply TIM(if possible) but don't damage ur card. And post ur rig details and game res.

^^ To be honest ur cpu is nt great either for today's games. People often think that only update gpu will boosts fps in games, sometimes it does by a little, but problem like stuttering, 100% cpu useges comes in to act. u need a good strong cpu as well, which can feed ur gpu properly. If a gpu can't feed properly by a cpu, then it's called 'cpu bottleneck'.
But in this case, ur rig is perfect for ur present gpu.

Phenom II X2 550 is fine. Not a quad-core, but it is fine.

^^ i never told it's a scrap metal for now-a-days. It's still a decent one.
Before my 2500k i had 6400+ and i used my 5770 in there. But after junp to this i5 my gpu scored has increased by a huge mergin in 3d mark. problem like suttering in many games r gone and got huge fps boost in the game like crysis 2 with dx11 patch and in others also.

you have a decent CPU, mobo, and PSU and even if you jump to a i5 based config you won't see a lot of improvements in games with the gfx card you have. Sell it if you can.

Try Unlocking the cpu into a quad core cpu to get a free upgrade - your mobo is a very good one which supports unlocking cpus and I know someone who has done this ;-)

After unlocking grab a GTX 560 Ti @ ~14k or HD6850 @ 8.5k ;-)
