4.5 inch is suitable, glass protection would be great

Nothing as such

6. Preferred operating system? (Android, iOS, Windows Phone, etc).
Android or Windows OS

7. Preferred connectivity options (3G, 4G ready).
3G, 4G is not a big issue.

8. Primary use of handset (multimedia, camera, internet, gaming etc)?
Multimedia, Internet, Occasional gaming

9. Any specific mobile phones in consideration?
Windows: XOLO WIN q900s
Android: Any Android One handset probably

10. Any other info that you want to share
I want the smart phone for my younger brother. Want the best I can.

Options and suggestions are welcome ;)

avoid android one its not at all good
get Moto E,Redmi,Lumia 535,Lumia 640(coming soon - $100 is the current price abroad so itll be the same here i guess)

Yeah L640 series is surely going to replace the 630 and other legacy devices. So they won't be going to cost a lot.

Budget is 5.5k or 6k at max. Yureka, Moto E, Redmi 2, all cost 7k or more.

Then buy first gen Moto E. It's 6k now. If you can get second hand.. You can get for 4K.

true but under that ,most phones arent worth it
Xolo Win and Lumia 4xx and 5xx series are worth it in that budget
You can also try getting a 1st gen Moto E but from my personal experience,Lumia 530 is faster and better than Moto E

I would suggest karbonn sparkle V will not suggest Moto E due to crap camera or you can save money get redmi 2.

Sparkle V is the Android variant and XOLO Win q900s is the Windows variant I suppose. Specs are more or less the same in the two. Isnt it?
And I have always liked Windows for its smooth UI compare to android.

Theres even iBall Andi 4L pulse for 5k
runs windows phone and is most certainly smoother and better than android one handsets
cheaper android phones are a no go imho unless its Yureka

Not worth the price IMO, Lumia 430 (to be launched) is a much better option for around 4.7k.
Moreover 4inch feels small to hands, so I am probably looking for somthing like 4.5inch.

camera is poor in 430 - 2MP otherwise its worth it
But I can assure you one thing
Low end windows phone>>>>low end android
the lowest android worth buying is Yureka,Moto G imho
even Moto E has gone slow since lollipop so its best avoided

Microsoft is very very consistent in updates and speed etc even for low end phones unlike google who abandons previous gen phones software optimisation-Lollipop
