A touch screen remote, Not a Bad Idea and I wonder Why all the TV manufacturing brands haven't used this feature in their smart tv's. though I doubt whether something like this will get applicable in the time to come or not.Though there are rumors that upcoming Apple TV may have the touch screen remote in them..It's all a matter of wait and watch and who knows we might see this by the next month.

There could also be an app to use your cellphone as a remote via Wifi.

I have also heard the same rumors about Apple but We aren't even sure enough that we would get the Apple TV in 2103 or not...Apple has been playing Hide & Seek game with their TV..

Wow… what an interesting thread here people are more into talking about the smart TV remote instead of TV itself. BTW – the idea was nice for touch remote though we can access our TVs with smartphones but remote; it should have a touch-based interface now.

I prefer buttons for remote so that I don't have to look at the remote for changing channels and increasing volume. :|

Well everything is clear to me but wondering why LG is not using the Google OS instead, and for HP - I mean what sort of OS it would be? And in which TVs will they use it?

No reply yet for my query. Guys please tell about HP web OS as I’m damn confused about this term and its use in LG smart TV. Any further information regarding the same would be appreciated.

That's quite true; if we have a button remote in hand we don’t have to look at it while operating TV interface unlike any touch remote. But IMO accessing a smart TV interface with touch remote would be way faster than conventional one, isn't it?
