Laptop plugged in evn wen turned off:Any effect on battery?

Hi
I use BSNL Home 500 BB plan..so i dwnld a lot from 2-8 am .
Actually im not awake till 2 evry night coz i've set up all the automations like auto connect, automatic booting at 2,router restart etc.
So i go to sleep at 12 am but keep the power plugged in after hibernating my laptop.
So its switched off and plugged into mains for around 1.5 hrs..
So i wanna know will that have any effect on the battery life?? I also read at many sites that the lithium ion batteries and the chargers of today have a cut off mechanism that automatically cuts off the power supply after 100% charging and only keeps it at around 100% charge from time to time..
So please clear my doubts regarding all this...

No, dun't worry much about battery. Didn't happen to me for the past soo many years.

Can you please let me know the elaborate steps.. i mean all the steps and software and procedures involved.. Thanks in advance
