help with database management

I hope this Q&A is the right section to post.

I have set up a website with Joomla! First time, I am new to it, its been quite an upgrade from notepad and kwrite.

Now as you know Joomla! uses mySQL database to store all the details like username, email, Name, etc, etc.

1. Is there any way I can download all this to a database on my pc, say if I create a new user for that database with read only permissions?

2. Is there any way to sync the database with Thunderbird or Outlook? That would be extremely helpful.

There is a software called SQLyog which you can use to sync website database with your pc database, you have to install mysql server on your home pc for that.

SQLyog can be also used to import database and create new user for whatever permission you want.
