Kindly Suggest me a future proof rig under <=45k. AMD X6 based preferable.Intel also welcome.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? (Note: If you are planning to say multimedia, you will have to be more specific as all types of systems are capable of doing that)
A: Programming (Dot net 2010) Play HD movies, photos, occasionally games

2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM/ sellers? If not- why?
A: Yes

3. What is your MAX budget?
A: upto 40 to 45k

4. Planning to overclock?
A: I don't know to how to overclock.

5. Which OS are you planning to use?
A: Win7/ XP SP3

6. How much hard drive space is needed?
A: 1 TB

7. What resolution will the screen run at & whats the size of the screen you want?
A: No Idea. 17 inch LCD prefered

8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10? (1 being the lowest, 5 being you are somewhat in sync with the current performers and 10 being the highest)
A: I would say around 4

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
A: By an assembler

10. When are you planning to buy the system?
A: This saturday.

11. Are you one of the types looking out for "future proof" configurations?
A: Yes, atleast for another 7 years.

12. Are there going to be any components that you don't want to include in this new rig?
If yes, do mention.
A: UPS - I already have it.

13. Which city do you live in and are you open to buying from shops from other city/states?
A: Chennai/Tirunelveli(not open to buy online)

14. Mention any other points if deemed necessary
A: Desktop for programming, movies and occasional games required. Placed in Non AC room.

total(with card)-46000(the card is fine as per your needs and will be able to play dx11 games and dx 10 games in mid-high details
also the motherboard being future proof and the processor being high end and unlocked multiplier version...u can overclock it too ,so later u have the option with you)

....
the biostar mobo is not advisable as you lose out on all future ready features such as sata 6 gbps and usb 3.0 ...also the biostar board has a ltlle bit heating issues

now who said athlon is useless dude, i think you need to read some reviews online.
x4 955 is based on the same 45nm fabrication process as athlon 635...nothing new...

but u say whats better phenom 2 ....though heat emission would be comparable...but a new chipset...and a new southbridge in the mobo would perform better with the new cpu.......also the better processing power is surely noticeable.....what do u say?

dude if you consider newness, 635 is released this year only...........

635 is no slower....phenom 955 will benefit him if he games a lot....but he is doing casual gaming so 635 enough...

5670 will not give bottlenecks...cybertonics rig is also nice......

.....okay...considering the price to performance ratio.....i beleive its better.....and the reat is upto the op.......otherwise not only games ...this processor having unlocked multipliers...gives also a headroom for overclocking later....so thus....another added advantage...and yes my friend 512mb vs 1 gb gddr5 does make a differnece...and yes it would prove to be bottleneck in the recent games and even other media encoding and processing utilities....and yaar...considering the price jump of 2000 and performance jump of upto 50% is really better choice

wait a minute dude!!!
1gb is best for high end cards since they have the ability of full hd gaming and gaming at enthusiast level.....hd5670 is a low-mid card and with 512mb it will give no bottlenecks..ok

635 priced at 5k and 955 at 8k so 3k difference...
there is no performance jump of 50%......in multithreading you cant beat 635's vfmness..

Greater GPU ram actually comes into affect when gaming HD or greater and the AA/AF are turned up. More textures need to be loaded to the memory so the GPU pipeline has a constant feed and the SIMD (single instruction multiple data) logic can be carried out.

^^ HD5670 is not a high end graphics card so feeding it with 512Mb, 1Gb, 2Gb will result in same FPS, give-take a couple. maybe borax12 talking about doing FULL HD gaming. still its not a GTX460, that will offer superior performance for extra memory.

thanks for the configurations. in the above mentioned config what would be the best motherboard without integrated graphics with usb 3 support. kindly advise.

Well I never mentioned FPS. GPU RAM hardly affects FPS. Its more about the engine and memory clocks, and how many SPs it has..!

....actually take the case of the gtx 460....both the model share the same pcb design and the gpu...but the shader units are different and bus width,....198(in the 769 mb one) as opposed to the 256 bit(i guess this is the exact no...but its definitely more than the 768 mb in the 1 gb one)....so better to always have more memory...and yeah i know that the higher amount of vram comes into play when gaming high res but ....seeing the price difference ...doesn't hurt to get more....does it?
