Hi guys.
Recently, my Samsung hard disk stopped getting detected.
But later, it got detected.
The problem is, since then, my hard disk light (red) doesn't come on.
I mean, when I start the computer, it does turn on while detection of hardware.
But as soon as Windows booting starts, the light just turns off.
It doesn't even blink or does anything.
I know the connection's not loose cos if it was, the light wouldn't have come on at all. But since it is, that means the connection is fine. But I've checked it anyway & it's fine.
I haven't checked it with another hard disk.
Please help me.

I also got the same problem with my windows xp sp2 installation. When booting, the HDD LED was not blinking after showing Windows Logo. Tried in safe mode, but the system hangs after loading mup.sys and LED goes black.

Just reinstalled and working fine now.

Check if HDD is detected during POST (Power On Self Test) i.e. the first screen after booting. Also u can check the BIOS to confirm. If it is detected, then I think reinstalling is the best.

In the zone
Open your cabinet and see if the HDD LED Conector are properly connected to your Mobo.

I checked the connector. It's fine.
It blinks during DVD-ROM operation and while burning CD/DVD.
So, the HDD light is definitely not faulty.
But I will try it with another hard disk.

Ok, the problem turned out to be a faulty IDE cable.
I've replaced it & now the light's back on & working normally.
Thanks for all your "attempted" help.
