6 cores is an overkill for the gaming PC. it will just draw more power and give more heat.

what games you intend to play, what will be your general usage and what other components/stuff you already have (like UPS, keyboard etc) so that we can refine more.

i3-530 - 5.7k
CM Hyper 212 CPU cooler and CM Freeze Thermal compound - 2k
Gigabyte GA-P55-USB3 - 8.2k
NZXT Gamma - 2.3k
Corsair VX550 - 5k
G.Skill Ripjaws 2X2GB kit DDR3 1333Mhz - 7.5k
Sapphire HD5850 1GB GDDR5 - 16k
WDC Caviar Black 500GB - 3.2k
APC UPS - 3.3k

10k remaining balance it between Display, mouse and keyboard. :D as they are highly based on personal preferences.

if you don't want a HD5850,
get the HD5770 - 9.7k
Cooler Master CM690 II Plus Case - 5k
DELL 21.5" ST2210 Full HD (HDMI, DVI-D) - 9.3k
and spend the 4.5k on keyboard and mouse.

or an Core i5-750 Quadcore CPU - 10k

and sorry I'm not familiar with AMD proccy, mobos:wink:

core i3 and i5 will be obselete soon .no upgradation will be possible
and for around 1k more than core i 5 you are getting 6 cores and in future application and games will utilize 6 cores.
Go with amd this is much more future proof and powerful

your first part right. i3 & i5 will die as the Socket LGA1156 will no longer be needed. Sandy Bridges will use LGA1355 socket.

however, hardly any present game utilize 3 cores well. forget 4 cores & u talking about 6 cores? 6cores not good for anything except heavily threaded work like encoding. OP best with either 2 cores (Phenom II X2) or Phenom II X4. 6 cores over kill & unnecessary for his requirements.

i had the opportunity to test the AMD 1090T before its release & its way cooler then the other proccys even when O/Ced.
Also its better to for that then AMD 965 as its got turbo core!

havn't heard anything of that sort....though AMD 965BE though give more heat coz of higher volt & TDP!

If you want to play games you should buy a desktop coz laptops are not at all suited for gaming.
Processor - Intel core i5 750
Motherboard - Gigabyte H55M-USB3
RAM - Corsair 4GB DDR3 1600MHz C9 Titanium
HDD - Segate Baracuda 7200.12- 1TB
Graphics card - Saphire Radeon HD 5770
Optical drive - LG GH22 SATA 22x DVD-writer
Power supply - Corsair 550VX
Cabinet - Cooler Master Centurion 690
Monitor - Acer V233H 23.6" FULL HD LCD Monitor
Keyboard - Microsoft comfort curve 2000
Mouse - Razer salmosa
Speakers - Creative Inspire M2600
Laptops need a lot of maintenance and should be careful while carrying it around. but if you want to buy a laptop go for the Asus N61Jv. It has a pretty decent configuration like USB3, Core i3, GT 325M graphics, nvidia Optimus, etc.,

go for desktop if you want to game!
i want intel i5
any specific reason you want to go for that?

Can you fill the below questionnaire so i can suggest you a good config!
1. What is your MAX budget?
2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM/ sellers? If not- why?
3. What is the purpose of the computer? (Note: If you are planning to say multimedia, you will have to be more specific as all types of systems are capable of doing that)
4. Planning to overclock?
5. Which OS are you planning to use?
6. How much hard drive space is needed?
7. What resolution will the screen run at?
8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10? (1 being the lowest, 5 being you are somewhat in sync with the current performers and 10 being the highest)
9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
10. When are you planning to buy the system?
11. Are you one of the types looking out for "future proof" configurations?
12. Are there going to be any components that you don't want to include in this new rig? If yes, do mention.
13. Which city do you live in and are you open to buying from shops from other city/states?
14. Mention any other points if deemed necessary
