Free gprs through airtel

I am using nokia 3110c phone. I use airtel mobile office for surfing internet on the phone through opera mini browser. The gprs speed here in my town in gujarat is 3-4 kbps or sometimes 5kbps max which is quite crap and rs 15/day is quite exorbitant.
I have 2 questions: 1) i have heard that free gprs can be used through airtel live by doing some proxy settings or something like that. So please tell me how to do that in detail.
2) is there a better web browser than opera mini v.4.1 for nokia 3110c ?

Because it is better, otherwise Opera never released it. Versions includes latest security patches and fixes stability issues.
