Evolution problems

I am using Ubuntu 8.04 and Evolution. There are some irritating issues - tit does not send or recieve mails automatically. My signature does not come automatically. If I make an entry in the calendar and want to invite others, cant send emails automatically. Is there a way of solving these? I am even contemplating switching to thunderbird.

Any suggstions?

Switch to Thunderbird.
remove evolution sudo aptitude remove evolution
if says aptitude needs to remove gnome desktop also. don't worry it will just remove evolution.
