About the 3.5 mm Jack, I think either it makes some real sense to remove it, like to save space or something, or either they are going iPhone route. But even Nexus series was launched only for developers or tech enthusiasts, but was welcomed by general public, Essential could very well be a phone, a Nexus should have been.
