DVD to VCD - software?

i wanna try ripping one of my fav movies from dvd to vcd.

1) which are the best ripper options available?

2) is it possib to rip with subtitles?

3) approx time on celeron? on p4?

The best tool that I know is out there and is also freeware and does the fastest/best transcoding is Sceneo VCopy. Download it from here:

Approximate time depends on the speed of your processor and the other running tasks, but expect a minimum of at least 2.5 hours for the DVD to be extracted and then burnt onto a CD. BTW, if the DVD is a commercial copy-protected DVD, Sceneo VCopy will not be able to able to extract it. You will need to use a DVD decryptor/extractor, rip the DVD movie and then use VCopy to burn the VCD. Yes, you will be able to rip with subtitles. However, be warned that while burning/transcoding a DVD into a VCD for your personal use is OK, but you cannot distribute it or give it to anyone. If you're planning to extract to a VCD, please make sure you own the DVD to avoid pirating it.

DVD Ripping

To Rip from a dvd ,I use these tools depending upon the dvd type
1. Imtoo DVD ripper - It takes less time to rip , has many features
2. Super DVD ripper - It takes littel more time but output is very good.
3. Magic DVD ripper- Comparatively better.

first 2 rippers has the facility to write into a cd and audio adjustments,
resolution changers, subtitles facility.

Give a try and ur choice is the final.
Try above three and decide which to keep.

But only disadvantage is above things are not free. They are sharewares.

if u want to divx it then use Gordian.Knot s/w. it uses virtaul dub and other freely available tools for divx encoding. and is faster than many programs. and the quality is very good.
