Hi, I have 5 x 1 Tb HDDs and i would like to have a setup wherein i can connect all 5 harddisks at the same time and use them. Right now I am using an external casing and connect each and every hdd individually to copy data.

I heard about those harddisk racks, but they are too costly.. and are they reliable? Or does anybody have a good alternate solution?

Thanks.

I would prefer to use them in an external way as my cabinet is very small one.
System configuration is: AMD II X4 940 BE @ 3 GHz, 4 Gb DDR2 RAM, Gigabyte motherboard (dont know the model name correctly).

Thanks.

Buy something of this sort:
You'll get it at around Rs. 12-15K

Otherwise you have to connect each HDD separately through individual enclosures.

I'm using 2 x 2 bay enclosures from the same company above. They have both USB and eSata connections and they're working like a charm.

This is the best thing if you want to connect the HDDs externally.

Hey that's really a long long story ...:|

I did lot of efforts to get it directly from the company. You can visit icydock.com for details.
I directly contacted the company (@china), and after uncountable email exchanges they finally accepted my order.

I got my 2 bay enclosure @ 7.1K but it is worth all the pain i took...

The product image was just for an idea. It also has a model with 5 bays. But the price will go up accordingly. And i do not understand the purpose of running all the 5 HDs at the same time. This enclosure is hot swappable and therefore you can use any HD when needed and that too with a single push of a button
They charged me $32 for the shipping of 2 bay enclosure

@ statix_x, I had my eyes on: MB455SPF-B.
But what you suggest must be cheap and efficient too..

Thanks for the input pal.

MB455SPF-B is okay but it is not supposed to be an external unit. You have to fit the entire thing to your 5.25" bay and consumes 3 - 5.25" bay for that.
It is almost half the cost of what I've suggested you. But the one posted above comes with 4 bays only.
