I have 80 GB Pata HDD and it's getting low on space.I am thinking of adding another 500GB SATA.

What I want to do is make the new 500 GB HDD primary and old one secondary for backups. And also make it my OS HDD. How can i transfer all my OS and files to the new HDD. IS it possible to do by Clone software, if yes by which and how. Please advise.

Okay, So its been a while since the last time you'd upgraded huh? Okay.
The cloning process may get tiresome I recommend keeping you cabinet hood off the whole time.

I've done 2-3 cloning in my lifetime, I used HD Clone Free Edition in both the cases. You also will be needing a Boot Disk eg. Antivirus Disc or Windows Disc.
So, first connect you new HDD to the computer, run the clone software create the image in the New HDD.
Now, Swap the Old HDD with the New. Boot using an Emergency boot Disc and Restore the Image to the New Disk.
After the image is restored, I belive you can boot from the New HDD.
Then connect the old HDD to your mobo and BOOT FROM THE NEW HDD.
Format the Old HDD or Keep the Data upto you.
There are many methods, the one I said is the case where both the HDD are connected first.
i recommend researching a bit more. My method is pretty reliable.
