Although 400 Watts more then enough for this configuration but stability depends on which series psu he is using.

Assuming that 400W PSU is a generic one which comes with cabby. It may be able to run the gpu just fine but to be on safe side he should get atlest a good psu like CM Extreme Power Plus 460W or atlest zebronics 500W platinum.

If your friend don't want to buy a psu & still wants to be on safe side then get zotac or sparkle 9600gt eco edition cards which does not require extrenal power through a 6 pin pci-e power adapter unlike other 9600GT cards.

^^Eco edition doesn't require a 6pin power connector.
It's TDP is 59W compared to 90W of the regular 9600GT.
It's clock speeds are a little less, and so is it's performance.
It's down side is the price, which is Rs. 6,800.

Nice going comp@ddict. Now that's really some high price. I thought the price should be lower than regular 9600gt. Can you provide some link where it's selling at Rs. 6800 or it's just local market price.

A regular 9600gt has 650Mhz clock speed but the eco edition has 600Mhz.

nVidia just needs a reason to sell their existing GPUs at higher costs.

And it was listed in www.itwares.com

But the site is under construction. I have the card listed in the Price List.

^^He shudn't too.
Even the 8800GT with a old C2D E6xxx ran on a CM460W PSU, and 8800GT has much higher power requirements.
