4 Cores or 6 cores
which would be a better option
i.e should i go with HIGHER CLOCKRATE 4 CORES PHENOM X4 3.4GHz or LOWER CLOCKRATE 6 CORES PHENOM X6 2.8/3.0GHz

Which is the best ??

Allround performance go for x6 phenom.. u wont be disappointed.. Plus remember turbo core technology.. 3.2 base clock and 3.6 if u have 3 or more unused cores.. Im loving this beast!! got it for 10.5 inclusive.. But make sure u have a good power supply

The number says all buddy. 6 Core will definitely be a better option than 4 cores and especially when you want a gaming rig. So go for Phenom X6 1090T as Jas said, Intel i7 980 is there too, but you know the price. Alternatively, you can go for i5 760 as Ishu said and save your budget for a good GPU, but I won't advice that.
A 6 core proccy will serve you for next 5 years at least.

it would have been better had you mentioned what you use your PC for.
However, as a general answer, I'd have to say 6 cores. you have options ranging from 2.8 Ghz to 3.3 Ghz. what option you take depends on your budget

Budget is 0k & around 16k for proccy+mobo.
But in the December DiGiT issue there is an article in World view about "HOW MANY CORES IS ENOUGH".
So i dont know what to select

Get 6 cores and you won't regret it. It would be more future proof, 1090t I'd say. Don't know if 1100t's available.

IMO
if you wana use your pc primarily for gaming then go for a quad core (phenom II 965), as most modern games utilize only 3-4 cores and get a good gpu with the money you will save over a hexa core cpu
