2GB+2GB vs 2GB+4GB... How much difference would it make?

I'm buying a laptop having two 2GB memory cards.
But there is an option of upgrading it and making 2GB+4GB = 6GB.

I'm wondering if it's worth the money.

How much memory boost would I get in gaming and everyday tasks?

Its Ram. 2 GB + 4 GB is possible, totaling 6 GB of Ram but it wont work on Dual channel mode, resulting slight performance decrease in some applications. However, it is still big improvement over 2 GB + 2 GB configuration due to extra 2 GB you are getting. So either go for 2 GB + 4 GB solution or sell of the 2GB ram and get 4GB + 4GB configuration.

@harshil He's obviously talking about RAM :p

@OP Yes you can get the upgrade, but justify your usage with the amount you'd be spending.

Does the lappy comes with any OS? If yes, is it 64 Bit? Remember to use more than 4GB RAM you need to install 64 bit OS, otherwise the remaining RAM won't be of any use.

Also justify your task, do you really need that much of RAM?
