You can run Vista just fine for work. No Aero, laggy gaming and a sort of slow startup will be all the cons you'd have (Apart from using the 'Windows' OS, of course)

With 2gb I often run into bottleneck when using full features, songs playing, dvd writing, background downloading, emailing & me working on some graphics.
Almost 1gb remains consumed with Vista & for graphics left over 1gb is less, I am planning to have another 2GB added soon.
Config is in the signature below.

Sitching all eye candy definately improve response times.
But Vista without eyecandy,is a little more than XP.

Sorry to butt in, but I am facing this same problem. I have 845 mobo with 64 mb onboard graphics but vista is not accepting the drivers I got with my mobo CD. my Mobo is Intel 845 with Intel (R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphic controller with 512 MB 266 MHz of RAM. I had to remove Vista. Should I go for graphic card? Any suggestion ? or recommendation for graphic card ?
