Ram boosters are good for nothing.
They themselves hog RAM, than freeing it in first place. :))

Heyy n00bs ,whrs ur brains :D sold away at the price of peanuts  ;) :p

its a very shameful thing . i didnt expected this from you who gives so much suggestions to everyone to buy phones and is a die hard fan of sony  so this proves that u r a just a FANBOY with no typical knowledge about stuffs . u argue like hell man even if u r wrong

Dude. Please check the other posts before sticking your head in everthing. Ans me this. Why is it that you get less than what is listed in the manual about the internal memory?huh? I clearly stated that i got a bit confused so many noobish comments been passed about RAM and ROM.the kernal remains in the ROM and through update the software that comprises the OS changes but the ROM remains constant.Data in the ROM can only be overwritten. but not deleted. And utsav, please keep your comments to yourself.

u r still acting like a n00b , we get less memory in the phone than stated in the manual because a os comes loaded with several factory loaded apps like the search plugin and lifeblog and some third party apps like adobe reader which do not come under system files hence they are stored in phone memory . The rom contains only the core sytem files and nothing else. Now beat this .huh? And for your knowledge the type of rom used in the phones r known as eeprom .ELECTRICALLY ERASABLE PROGRAMMABLE READ ONLY MEMORY . So it can be erased. Actually while upgrading phone software the data is erased from the rom first and then its programmed with new data . And when it comes to sticking my head ,its very necessary for guys like me to teach you some basics when u and guys like u do these big mistakes and dont admit your fault .

Really well done dream.

Next time when you suggest someone some phone and argue stupidly i can openly say that you are indeed noob and to prove that you're noob i can give links to this thread. You indeed make our life easier by yourself. :)

But honestly , i didn't expected such comments from you . Being a die hard blind fanboy , you should know atleast some basic how a phone works . I really enjoyed fight with you in n81 vs w890i thread. But until now i didn't realized that i was talking to someone who really dont know much about cellphone.

By the way , there's a very nice site called www.wikipedia.org.(in case you didn't know ;-D ) Before commenting further i suggest you to read some articles there.

By the way can anybody answer me what is the lasert firmware version for n73 me for APAC?

In smartphones the OS is loaded in to the RAM. That's why we don't get all the RAM listed by the manufacturer.

For ex. the N95 has 64mb RAM, out of which 30mb is used by the OS. That's why it was left with only around 30mb which was not that much for a powerful smartphone like N95.

In the N95 8gb, Nokia doubled the RAM to 128 mb. But the OS still takes around 30mb. That's why the N95 8gb is left with around 96mb of free RAM.

So even though Nokia doubled the N95 RAM from 64mb to 128mb, the actual free RAM got quadrupled, because the OS still takes the same amount of RAM.

As for G700, the free RAM is around 90mb after the phone starts. One can leave virtually every app in the phone running in the background and still the phone will work well.

As for UI speed, G700 is actually SLOWER than N73. Whether the future firmwares can solve this is debatable though.

I think a better term would be to say that the OS forms an image on the RAM, rather than its loaded on the RAM.Much like cache where the RAM stores the important files itslef such that it can used for easy recovery. But the SE feature phones use utilize the firmware directly from the memory rather than loading it onto the RAM.Please guysl what maybe true for smartphones isnt for feature phones.

@tamogno-better keep your mouth shut if you cant provide anything fruitful.
@krazzy-goto display and turn off transitions and then check the speed.

Well till now I've only heard and read the term 'loaded onto the RAM', that too from sites like AllAboutSymbian. So, that's what it is I guess.

As for the transitions, they are off. Only helped marginally. The problem is when the app is started for the first time. It takes ages to start. Then when it gets loaded into the RAM, subsequent starts are faster. But if the app is closed from the Task Manager, then starting it up again is a pain. Also each Setting in the Setting app is an app itself. So changing multiple settings requires firing up several apps. This further increases the time and clutters the Task Manager. In S60, all the settings come under one Setting app.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. UIQ is not everyone's cup of tea and nowhere near as polished as S60. Whereas S60 can be as easy to use as a regular phone, UIQ makes its presence felt and is just short of hoisting a flag and shouting "I'm a smartphone". I'd only recommend it to seasoned smartphone users. I've used many phones and smartphones before. But never before had I encountered an OS that made me compulsorily read the manual before using it. A newbie to smartphones would be completely bamboozled.

Well there aren't many wi-fi hotspots in India to fully utilize the wi-fi in phones. But one can use it with the wireless setup at home and use it to transfer data wirelessly or connect to the net through a wireless router.

Well, even in the hotspots.the wifi chip in phones are too weak tocatch any signal.you have to be in very close proximity to the tower to actually gain some accessi.e. 10-15 mtrs at least. At home is particularly pointless coz you would be having your computer or laptop to access the internet. My friends N95 cant access wifi from the point his laptop does so very efficiently.
