1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: This is for my brother in law and I'm pretty sure they are gonna use it for normal purposes like watching movies, basic MS Office work and browsing. I don't think they would be playing any high end games. I do not play any games either but something that can run Need for speed Most wanted with medium details would be great...(hope that makes sense).

2.What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans:25000 (max is 28000 I guess...don't pay much attention to that the max budget though :))

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans:No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans:Windows 7 (win 8 too but I'll never upgrade to that )

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans:min 500 gb

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: I want at least 22" full HD monitor

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: need everything

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans:within the next two weeks

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans:This will be done by an assembler

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans:They live in Vasai, Maharashtra and everything will be purchased locally.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans:I just want a good proper configuration. I don't have anything to say right now, I'll ask for more suggestions once you guys start posting.

Harshil, how about FX-4300 @ 6.5K + Gigabyte 78 S2P USB3 Motherboard @ 4K + HD 6670 DDR3 combination. Price will be more or less same but both CPu and GPu performance will be slightly higher.

Hmmm i think its almost 9K more then max budget quoted by OP.

OP can consider i3-3220+B75m-D3H+ IGP(i.e. no graphic card)
Well i have played NFS MW with above rig and it run smoothly at med setting.
both FX 4300 and A10 will overshoot budget

i3-3220 @ 7.5k
Gigabyte B75M-D3H @ 4.2k
Corsair Value select 4GB 1600MHz @ 1.8k
Antec BP300p @ 1.8k
Local zebronics cabinet @ 0.8k
Dell S2240L @ 8.8k
WD caviar blue 500GB @ 3k
Asus 24B5ST dvd r/w @ 1k
Logitech MK200 @ 0.7k

total ~ 27.8k
If you can add some money later then go add Sapphire amd 6670 DDR5 1GB later in this rig.

Yes it is, but OP wasn't clear about the max budget and said not to worry about it :) If OP's budget isn't enough for the config I suggested, he can happily go for this.

id suggest going for AMD A10-6800K for 10.3k and lowering budget of mobo by a bit
like MSI FM2-A75MA-P33 (4K)

I really like that one and that is almost the same configuration I had come up with few months back but was not able to buy the system back then.

This is what I had in mind back then and I have listed the price too as given by the local dealer. As you can see, this is above budget and I just need you to bring it down to 28 without changing the mobo and processor. This is the price list I got back in June so there might be changes in price now.

Processor i 3 3220@7500

haha you took that the wrong way. I have a budget of 25, I just didn't want you guys to have any max budget in mind. I just posted 28k and you took it up to 37k lol.

Thanks for the config though but I'm pretty sure my sister and brother in law won't be spending that much .

Buddy, spending 7.5K over a dual core Processor is really not recommended in these days where multi-threaded applications are becoming mainstream. Instead get amd FX-6300 @ 7.5K + Asus M5A97 LE @ 5.5K + HD 5450 @ 1.8K

buddy you are missing one point Overall rig cost
can you fit FX 6300 in 28k with atleast Intel HD 2500 equivalent graphic card...Good enough mobo like B75M-D3H...
I am not against FX 6300 it is obviously better then i3-3220 but it lacks IGP all in all overall cost will go above 30k

I really like that but that's like 29600 and still a bit over budget :( . I really don't want to get a cheaper monitor but is anything else available? would you guys recommend getting a cheaper monitor for the above configuration ? I just want to bring down the price somehow keeping the mobo and processor .

Thank you everyone :)
