windows xp startup very very slow..

Just after installing some software.., I've realized my computer started up so slowly. it takes up to 10 -20 minutes.

XP starts very slow and on startup on bottom of screen a line
goes across screen (like on your tv when turning up
volume)
Xp then loads (takes 10 minutes)
Once everything is loaded, my computer runs just fine.

There lies the problem. Update ur antivirus and clean. Else, simply backup important data and format C drive and reinstall OS. Then install Antivirus and update it. Now Scan all ur drives and clean.

use CCleaner to clean up registry entries of old n deletd programs.
also mk sure u have enough space in ur C drive.
i dnt knw hw mch of RAM u r using, bt shuldnt b less than 512MB
also dnt keep many programs in startup. u can remove those using CCleaner. esp browsers they eat up lot of ram.
