My query is - My desktop is fully updated. Have all the software's & latest driver's installed. Want to know, can I create a bootable dvd of my current system state so that in case of system failure, I dont have to install each and everything over again?

I guess what you are looking for are called disk imaging software. They make whole copies of parititions hard-disks and store them in a file. Google "acronis true image"
