Win XP Upgrade advisor does'nt work

My PC configuration is Pentium III, 192 MB SDRAM (128+64), Windows ME, 20 GB hard drive. My problem is that whenever I run upgrade advisor, it takes a lifetime to scan my PC. I tried restarting and running it again, but no avail. Please give some solution to this problem. If possible please give me advice about installing windows xp on the above given configuration.

You are running upgrade advisor means you want to upgrade. But if possible, make a clean new install than an upgrade.

BTW upgrade advisor will take some time ... upto 30 mins.. depending on software you have installed. coz it checks all installed applications to be compatible in upgraded OS.
