1) What is your budget? (INR or USD) INR 50k

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?
  • Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen

3) What are the primary tasks you will be performing with this notebook?
Web development and web/graphic design softwares mostly (adobe cc illustrator, photoshop, visual studio)

5) Any typical configuration in your mind you're eying for ?
These specs:
8gb ram, FHD display, Dedicated graphic processor

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
a. Like: none
b. Dislike: none

6) Anything else you would like to say?
  • Screen resolution : 1080p (Full HD)
  • Purchase place : Flipkart/Amazon local or abroad
I have finalized the below 2 laptops :

Lenovo ideapad 320

Acer Swift 3 Ryzen 5

However i'm not able to decide between the two as both have some visible issues:

  1. Lenovo ideapad : The only issue i have with this one is the 720p only display which might be an issue for web designing purposes.

  2. Acer swift 3: I have 2 issues with this one: 1) No expandable ram slot. 2) No dedicated graphic processor and I'm not really sure about the display quality and performance of its integrated graphic processor radeon vega 8.
So i have mainly 3 questions:

  1. I have never worked on a 720p screen for my web development/design. Do you think it would be a major problem in the long run ?

  2. None of these laptops contain SSD so i'm planning to upgrade that post purchase. How big of a difference does SSD make over older HDD for my usage (web development and designing) ?

  3. Finally of course, which laptop would you prefer?
Also, please suggest any other laptop which you feel would be better in this price range.

Buy a gaming laptop with GTX 1050 at 57k or so during sales. Flipkart nowadays have Gaming Fridays where they have such offers every Friday.

Most gaming laptops have 1080p display, expandable RAM (at least 2 slots), a 2.5" drive bay (with HDD) with an empty M.2 slot (for SSD). Moreover, they have a better CPU as well which are better for your tasks. But the final cost might come close to 65k.

You might find gaming laptops with i5 8300H, GTX 1050Ti, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD for 65k during sales, which are a better package as you get SSD out of the box along with better GPU. Check Asus TUF for deals.

Ooh. If you're really just choosing between the two, Lenovo is a better pick. But if you can, explore other brands too. Asus can have some in the same price range.
Thanks for reply. Can you suggest some good asus laptops below 65-70k?

You can get it if you want a thin & light laptop compared to gaming laptops. It is good & has an M.2 slot as well but its performance is inferior to gaming laptops. You don't seem interested in gaming if so you can definitely live with a bit less performance on those apps. Get an SSD & clone OS to it, preferably buy a 256GB one but 128GB is definitely sufficient for OS & all apps (use HDD for storage of your projects).
