Dear Digit Community, I need your help regarding my purchase and some expert advice is needed.

It is the first time I am posting on this forum and I look for help with choosing between seven laptop configurations. Price is not an issue. Also, I don't need a super laptop. I need one that fulfill my requirement without any lag. The order stated below reflects my preference so far:
  1. Precision 3520 - custom build
  2. Inspiron 15 7000
  3. Inspiron 15 5000 (5570)
  4. Precision 5520
  5. XPS 15
  6. XPS 13, 6500U ultrabook
  7. XPS 15, i7-7700HQ
My basic requirements for laptop are as follows
  • i7 processor
  • 8 GB RAM
  • Windows 10 operating system
  • 13 to 15 inch screen display
  • Light weight and slimmer in body
  • Touchscreen can be an advantage
  • Quality graphics
  • Should have a LAN Port
  • Storage is not an issue, still 250GB is minimum requirement
Problems faced so far

- Coil whine, unnecessary sound through cables while using my old HP laptop. Main reason for opting dell laptop.
- low battery performance
- Hangs while using apps like Catia, Youwave etc.
- Heavy weight

New suggestions are also welcome.

Do fill the questionnaire: Questionnaire for laptop/notebook purchase

The thing which holds most laptops back is the 5400 rpm HDD. A SATA SSD can improve the performance of even a i5 7200U laptop by a lot.

Putting that aside, among them XPS 15 seems a great choice if you occasionally play games too.

If you don't need a good GPU, you can buy XPS 13 with 8th gen i5 for a lighter device with better battery life or this one:
