Dear Team,

I have been having this new problem with the memory(is it RAM or Hard Disk problem)?
Ok, here is the problem...
I get the following message AT ANY TIME (ABRUPTLY) when i am opening, running or closing some program(say running power dvd or closing word or any other appln).

[The intruction at "0x77f623d1" referenced memory at "0x027efaf4". The memory could
not be "written".
Click on Ok to terminate the program
Click on Cancel to debug the program]

When I click on Ok, I get the message...

[The instruction at "0x3dd1351" referenced memory at "0x0000004". The
memory could not be "read".
Click on Ok to terminate the Program.]

The nos in the " " keep changing and are not the same in both the messages.

So, like i feel really dunned and frustrated coz i have to abort in the middle of something.

Team, pls help me out of this one.WHat should i do to rectify this error?

Thanks SwatKat for the reply.
Well, i tried getting into safe mode using F8 key durin the win xp startup. But it did not load the OS. The process stopped where "loading ur personal settings" screen comes and then xp AUTOMATICALLY restarted and went to normal mode.
and abt the software...i'll try it out and tell u!
THanks all the same...but is there any software that can give the results without having to make a boot floppy as is the case with MemTest86?

No. To test all of ur memory, nothing should be loaded onto the RAM. This is only possible if u boot from the floppy!

This is because the program is corrupted. try reinstalling it. What happens is you shut down the system before it finished flusing its cache to the disk and corrupted some parts of some programs. Only way to fix it is to reinstall it. Maybe even reinstalling the operating system. It could also happen if your Memory got corrupted. But mostly I have noticed that reinstalling the app itself fixes the problem.

Once you get this it is very hard to fix it since it is very hard to pin it down. I mean it could be anywhere since parts of th eoperating system could be corrupted but only apps which use that part would crash.

@ALienTech- Thanks for the Rply. The info was very helpful.i think i'll have to reinstall the OS.
@swatkat- I used the memtest86 software today. It gave me no errors(I did the test for 1 1/2 hours-4 passes).SO i think what AlienTech is sayin might be the reason behind the prob.

Well you could also have a virus :) You get pretty much the same symptoms.

In which case things would be worse since you would have to reformat the hard disk and start over. Any other method would be a risk of reinfecting the system. But a lot of times we dont have the time and backups to do that and just live with it.

Hi Team!
Sorry,for postin this late.
After formatting and re-installing winxp, i have had no probs of the same type(mem errors).
so i think the prob was with some appln.
Thanks team, for all the suggestions.
