Web hosting co. Investment & Requirements

Hello,
I would like to know what are the requirements for opening up of a webhosting company, investment required, internet connectivity, operating system- linux/windows, hardware & in case of Windows- Licensing.

Please give details.

Well I don't know much, but mostly start-ups use reseller hosting, if I'm not wrong, it's got soemthing got to do with re-seller packages.

Yes there are reseller packages. What about own hosting?

i don't think i have seen anyone with their own hosting in india...

At most some will have dedicated server accounts that's all

To start own hosting,u need a data center with all facilities..and believe me it will cost a bomb...

Hosting owned server will be a very costly and uncertain affair for a startup. Apart from the time it will take to 'market' your service, you will have to find resellers, employ a customer executive team(and pay them), etc.

All this totals up to lots of uncertainty with high chance of losing money. Profits are far, eveb breaking-even may be take long.

Reseller hosting is a safe bet for a startup.
