Less than a month ago the mother board went bad on my Pavilion HDX9160EA laptop, so the laptop was sent into HP for warranty service. Luckily the problem came 7 days before the warranty ran out. About a week ago I began getting an error message on the computer from windows vista stating that my copy of vista is not genuine and that I need to enter my product key. Unfortunately, the product key that I had was a lable on the bottom of the computer which is unreadable.

So now i am stuck with limited use of the computer - internet access only to authenticate the product. The only answers I get now is that the warranty is up on the computer, vista tells me i have to buy another copy of vista...

any ideas?????

I can't find my system recoery discs that cmae with the computer, but if I re-ordered them from HP do you think that would help the problem?

Call HP and ask for a system recovery DVD. Or, ask them to provide you with a serial number/ activation code. They are supposed to help.
