Vista and Vlc

i have a HP laptop with Vista premium(orginal), the problem is that when i try to play movies on Vlc player it does not play the video just the audio is audible, some time none.
but the same file can be played properly on media player classic.

what seems to be the problem? i tried changing to OpenGl and back but still does not work.

Me and Charan got HP Pavilion 6602 Model.

The only drawback is u can't install much Linux distributions on it such as Ubuntu, debian, etc...

I can install OpenSuSE and Sabayon Linux on it.

If u don't want to use Linux, then it's a superb laptop having lot of features !
Price is ~45K

I have used sabayon live CD/DVD will full Compiz-fuzion. I have to try Ubuntu with visualization on.

use the version
VLC media player 0.8.6c......this will show video in vista
