A friend of mine has got this strange problem. The system hangs frequently and the usb ports at the front don't work(XP shows "Device not recognized" error). He exchanged the motherboard as it was under warranty but still the problem persists. Then he called a mechanic who said that the problem was occurring due to frequent formats
. The mechanic inserted one of his hard disks and it worked for only for sometime before the system hanged. My friend has a 5.1 speaker system and I think this is a case of insufficient power because at one point of time, two of his speakers stopped working. The mechanic told him to remove the ports at the front of the cabinet. I think it's the power supply but I am not sure...
