I have already seen the previous Rs30K suggested config, but I had my own requirements.
1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans:>
The PC is usually used as a common family photo/video storage and viewing platform. Sort of a long term data backup system for Camera, mobile etc.
MS Office,Tally
Browsing, watching movies.
Python, C programming (low end Arduino/ Atmega microcontroller programming for random DIY projects)
NO GAMING (if possible some rare low end PUBG/CS gaming to satisfy visiting relatives kids tantrums if it fits in the suggested config)
2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: Rs. 30000 (+5000 if extremely necessary)
3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No
4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 10. And perhaps dual boot with Linux.
5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: Already have 1TB HDD. I plan to buy KingstonA400 240GB SSD. Any other suggestions welcome
6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: Yes, I need a new one. A 22 inch Full HD preferably. I did shortlist LG 22mp68vq, but if something else is better do suggest. Should have HDMI port.
The 10 year old monitor and graphics card blew up again after repairs, so I am discarding them anyways .
7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: I have a generic Cabinet, 1TB WD HDD
8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: In a month. Getting few items in ongoing flipkart/amazon sale if cheaper/reasonable (SSD, monitor)
9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Self assembled
10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Navi Mumbai. Mostly online as I don't have time to go to Lamington road. I do plan to buy A400 SSD and LG 22mp68vq from Amaozon as i think the offer is good enough. Rest I can buy from primeabgb online.
11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans:
>>I am planning to replace my 10 year old PC running on 1st gen i3 540.
As evident I usually do not replace my stuff often so I am looking for something reasonably futureproof which can handle new tech easily. Hence even though my use is basic and limited I am open for bit higher specs.
>>I would prefer Intel processor.
>>I would prefer inbuilt graphics. Dont want to spend excessively on a dedicated graphics card and I don't want to render the PC useless if the graphics card breaks down.
But the newer 9th gen Intel don't come with inbuilt graphics, so do suggest if I should go with 8th gen. Also I am not well versed with AMD processors.
However if needed I am ready to buy low end graphics card.
>> MoBo should have good number of USB 3.1 ports (atleast 4/5 total with atleast 2 on front)
>> Also would prefer config with 204GB A400 SSD, LG 22mp68vq, CX450 Powersupply
>>Need an ergonomic Wireless Keyboard+Mouse with full numberpad.
>> Would like a config with faster read/write ability as current PC is too slow to even open photos and documents.
>> Aesthetics don't mater . Sturdiness, longevity and ergonomics do matter.
