I have old motherboard which has sata 2, to run SSD on it I got PCIE 1x card to add sata 3 but then I had to buy riser for it to run as my graphic card comes just above it. I have AMD 6300 processor,

So I run my windows first on sata2 slot so that it install the driver for sata 3 and AHCI as it was already install.
Then I switch to sata3 slot it. My windows 10 pro run quite smooth and I could see the defference in the speed too.
Now, my SSD (which has windows) and HDD both is show as removable disk. Please help on this

Thanks.
following is my configuration.

AMD 6300 - processor
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 R2 AM3+/AM3 AMD 760G USB 3.1 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
16gb DDR3
250 gb Samsung EVO 850
1TB WD 7200rms

please help

It might have to do with the way BIOS sees the SATA port on the add-on card. Explore if BIOS throws any options therein.

For some reasons the SATA port on add-on card might be perceived as eSATA by the BIOS. Check and explore settings in BIOS to check further.
When you switch back to SATA II port off motherboard, how does it behave then? Does it still see it as removable now?

I have not experienced this problem ever so I might not be of much help, however additional Google search on this topic might be useful as well.

1. Try solution here and other Net searches on similar topics
2. Also open a ticket with Gigabyte Support
3. Somehow I did not get your last part, there's esata option but closed.
4. Make sure that SATA ports are indeed set to AHCI in BIOS. Sometimes they might fall back to IDE.

I have took the help of gigabyte they say its a issue of pcie to sata controller problem I have updated the sata controller driver too. but invein.
With respect to motherboard esata option is disabled. So there is no option for that to work.

the point 1. I could not find entry after certain point.(After \device)

last point which you suggested how to do that?

thanks

I have never implemented 1st solution..just that I pointed to it for you to try. Create a restore point so that in case of any issues you can revert back. The Value after Device is to be created. It might not exists already in the Registry. Hence the command reg.exe add

Last point is just a try out. No harm in just trying it out. For SATA ports the BIOS may throw options like IDE/AHCI/RAID. Make sure that AHCI is selected. Older boards might have a tendency to fall back to IDE or set it as Default. On Gigabyte boards this option generally tends to be under tab Integrated Peripherals.
