If your motherboard is an Intel 845, 845G, 845E, 845GE or an 845PE, then you will have a AGP 4x slot. If your motherboard is an 845GL or an 845GV, you're out of luck. If you're looking at an AGP 4x card, then you can either get a top of the line AGP 4x card like the GeForce 4 Ti series or you could go in for an AGP 8x DX9.0 card, which will still work at AGP 4x only. At least this way, you can get DX9.0 compliant games to run, albeit with a really low-end performance. The rates for these cards are sufficiently low now for you to afford them.
