The songs I am recommending may not necessarily be in the genre 'Soft Rock'. In fact this is a diverse list from Pop to Progressive Metal. But these songs are not the so called 'harsh' songs and is smooth in ears.

Goo Goo Dolls - Iris
Don McLean - Bye bye Miss American Pie
John Denver - Leaving On A Jet Plane
The Who (not the cover by Limp Bizkit. It is BAD) - Behind Blue Eyes
Green Day - Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)
Oasis - Wonderwall
Aerosmith - Crazy
Alanis Morisette - Head Over feet
Alanis Morisette - Ironic
Audioslave - Doesn't Remind Me
Audioslave - heaven's Dead
Avril Lavigne - Complicated
The Beatles - Let It Be
John Lennon - Imagine
Bob Dylan - All Along The Watchtower
Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight
James Blunt - You're beautiful
James Blunt - Goodbye My Lover
Linkin Park - Numb
Maroon 5 - She Will Be Loved
Porcupine Tree - Trains
System Of A Down - Roulette
Tool - The Pot

Then you may try and find limited 'soft' songs from bands like Creed, Nickleback, Goo Goo Dolls, Staind, Incubus, Radiohead, U2, Def Leppard, etc.

I like to listen full albums of different band. You can listen also Rancid,
Off spring, Good Charlotte, Translants, Bad Religion, NOFX

you can't put travis and keane into rock or even pop rock genre they're just a band(but not gay band like BB,blue):D

Travis can be best described as British Trad Rock. Some other suggested styles by allmusic.com are Britpop, Alternative Pop/Rock and post Grunge. but when you generalize it definitely IS rock and is strongly recommended for someone who appreciates music by Coldplay. Every band as a genre and Travis is far from the talentless Blue or Backstreet boys.

Some more recommendations(the ones I have heard recently and the ones I forgot to mention) :-

Porcupine Tree - Trains
Porcupine Tree - Lips Of Ashes
Dire straits - Sultans Of Swing
Dire Straits -Money For Nothing
Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms
Dire Straits - Walk Of Life
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
Pink Floyd - Coming Back To Life

Just for the record I personally don't like soft rock much but it is great for occasional break when you've heard too much metal, hard rock or progressive kind of music.(My Last.fm Profile - www.last.fm/user/chinmay_d)

Try Evanescence's latest album, The Open Door. Has a good collection of nu rock and easy listening tracks. And then there is always Linkin Park.

Lol, you are bound to say that. Your user id is a Pink Floyd album after all. I love Pink Floyd myself. I think they are one of the founders of psychedelic rock. Comfortably numb is an essential track when one is tripping!
