Details:-
* I previously had the Redmi 3S prime and I love that phone. I had no complaints with speed or anything, just needed more space. I wanted 64GB space and a better screen quality maybe, full HD would be nice. I exchanged it for the ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2. I currently have that and I don't like the 6.26" display, and also it is always warm no matter how light my usage is. Apparently these phones with these advanced SD660 chipsets are like this. I hate the warm feeling, so I am planning to sell this and get a different phone (preferably with a lower end chipset that doesn't get too hot}. Other than the overheating and screen size, everything is good in this phone.
* I hate to see that the more recent Xiaomi phones don't come with multicolor notification LED. I really like the Redmi 6 pro but hate the fact that it has only a white notification LED. If it had a RGB notification LED I wouldn't even be making this post, that's how important RGB notification LED is for me.

Almost all phones run warm when it's connected to 4G/3G vs WiFi. None of the detailed reviews mention anything out of the ordinary as far as heat is concerned for Max Pro M2 or for S660 chip (unlike S810 & S615 of past which were considered hot by almost every reviewer). Restart your phone, try uninstalling some recently installed apps which might be using data & resources in background. Shareit is cancer nowadays, remove that.

If you need a compact phone, only decent options under 15k are Nokia 6.1 plus & Redmi 6 Pro, but I think both have hybrid slots & are definitely inferior to the new "big" phones (even inferior to your Max Pro M2). Nokia 6.1+ is better of the two & I personally feel S625 of Redmi 6 pro is too slow for 2019. Not sure either of them have notification LED as its usually on the chopping board when companies want to keep prices down.

Being a person who don't like big phones myself, I understand your predicament but sadly the options aren't good in India or world for people like us. Even if you have no limits on your budget, the options are pretty limited.
