Should I buy a high end graphics card?

My desktop is around five years old, a Pentium 4 (not dual core), 2 GB DDR2 RAM machine with an Intel DG102GGC2 motherboard that has reached its limit of 2 GB RAM. The monitor is a 17 inch CRT one, with max 1280 X 1024 resolution.

I decided to buy a graphics card so that I could run the Aero theme of Win 7, and then thought I might as well get a good card so that I can play some games as well. The three cards that I thought about are:

Radeon HD 6450 1 GB DDR3 RAM at about 2500 /-
Radeon HD 6570 1 GB DDR3 RAM at about 3900 /-
Radeon HD 6670 1 GB DDR5 RAM at about 5500 /-

I am ready to spend upto 5500.

Now as I've said, my monitor's max resolution is about half HD. So do I need a high end card, when I am not going to use it at full HD resolution? Especially when I read people's reviews on Flipkart and some of them are able to run Max Payne 3 on HD 6450 at medium settings.

So what do you all think, which card is best for me? And suppose I get a new monitor, a full HD one, what do you suggest then?

Edit: Before someone asks, the PSU is 450 watts.

Id advice you get a HD 6670 atleast, if you are gonna stick with that resolution.. If you decide to upgrade your monitor later, get HD 7750/HD 7770/GTX 650
Give the full name of that PSU right there .. 450 watts local PSU will end in a disaster..
