screen flickers, amd fx 4300 asus mobo.. confusing!!

hello..!
i had an old pc, unused for 2years, and it wasnt turning on.. so i thought to build a new pc with its dvd writter and power supply unit..
i purchased 3 items from flipkart,
mobo: ASUS M5A78L-M LX V2
ram: Transcend DDR3-1333 4 GB (JM1333KLN-4G)
Processor: AMD 4 GHz AM3+ FX-4300 Four Core Black Editiod FD4300WMHKBOX

rest hardware from old pc,
LG DVD Writter
PSU: CIL-ODYSEY 450W (450PA10091)
250GB SATA HDD (formatted, no os)
mouse+keyboard

when i assembled it i found no connector for dvd drive(IDE) so its out of config now.. .. now when i turned it on and entered the Bios the screen flickers or vibrates up down constantly..
in Bios, the Processor, HDD and RAM are detected/ shown.... temp was about 50 C...

i turned it on again a few times but still the same problem.. so i checked the motherboard's manual.. it says:
-install a maximum of 3GB system memory if you are using 32-bit windows os.
-use a 64-bit windows os if you want to install 4GB or more memory on the motherboard.
-this motherboard does not support DIMMs made up of 512 megabits chips or less.

now i am confused, whats wrong?
please advise me..
have i purchased a wrong ram? if so suggest me one.
i have used only windows XP, now i think to use windows 7, is it fine?
please suggest me a DVD writer for this system.
was it something wrong with the processor?

please advise me what should be done?
thanks.

Try with another display cable.

hmm.. i will check that cable.. as its from the old PC..
i am a bit suspicious about the Ram because mobo's manual says it supports RAM made of more than 512 megabits chips, well i dont know whats thats actually... but the RAM i bought, its Memory Type is 4 GB (8 x 256 MB) DDR3 DIMM.. i guess this is 256 megabits chip... has it do to anything with the problem? and the Ram is detected in the Bios... Still worried if the same problem keeps on even after changing the Monitor Cable...

problem solved!!
actually there was a 4pin connector with the 20pin power connector to be attached... i had missed that.. when i asked a local hardware store to check my motherboard, they had connected it then i realised my mistake... so my screen flickered due to less power!
