I just want a Tough and sturdy laptop which will be good for at least 2 years.
Battery back up - extended 4-6 hrs

Confused if I should by a Refurbished Thinkpad or a newer one which barely fits my budget.

Refurbished T420 (i5 2520M , 8GB, 256GB SSD)
