Qualcomm starts testing the Snapdragon 810 chipset

Qualcomm announced its 64-bit Snapdragon 810 chipset back in April and thanks to a listing in the AnTuTu benchmark database, we can see it is currently undergoing testing.

The platform has been placed into a prototype device with a 6.2" 2560x1600 pixel resolution screen and 4GB of RAM. Interestingly, the frequency of the CPU is detected in the 200-940MHz range. At its maximum, it can operate at 2GHz.

Sadly, there's no information on how much performance the Snapdragon 810 chipset gives out. We hope the benchmark results gets posted eventually.

The Snapdragon 810 features four Cortex-A57 and four Cortex-A53 processor cores which provide 25-55% increase in performance over the Snapdragon 805 and draws 20% less power. In terms of GPU, the Snapdragon 810 has a brand new Adreno 430, which is advertised as 30% faster than the Adreno 420.

There have been rumors that the Nexus 6 could feature the 64-bit Snapdragon 810 chipset but nothing confirming this information has popped up.

It'll be interesting to see how the Snapdragon 810 will stack up against the Nvidia Tegra K1 (Denver), but we'll have to wait until this fall to find out.

Why isn't Snapdragon 600 getting pushed into the mid-range category ? :-?

So AnTuTu posted only the specs without the benchmark results? That is bad for them.
I am eagerly waiting for Nexus 6 to arrive soon. Would be on my radar!

It is bro the snapdragon 610 and Snapdragon 615 are made for Mid rangers..

they are

SD 610- QUAD Cortex a53 + Adreno 405
SD 615 - OCTA Cortex A53 + Adreno 405

Right now it is already being manufactured and shipping to OEMS .. Products will launch by november

Nexus 6 ? it won't have SD 810 wait for Nexus 7 ( phone) then.. Nexus 6 will carry a SD 805 or Tegra k1 ( if we are lucky) .. you can already find many benchmarks of SD 805 online .. and for k1 as well

I believe it would be interesting when it gets pitted against Apple's what ? A7 chipset, I guess

no competition there.. A7 is a dual core cortex A57 at 1.3 ghz.. this will be Quad Cortex A57 at 2.5 ghz..

anyways A7 is not the competitor .. it will fight against Apple's A8 .. but rumors suggesting dual core 2ghz cortex a57 so performance will be better in 810

secondly the SD 810 is nothing exciting .. they are using the stock cortex A57 cores which every other chip manufacturer like mediatek , nvidia will use so no benefits in CPU performance compared to others .. and regarding GPU it sucks.. Adreno 430 is crap way too less performance gets beaten by tegra k1 which is already out in devices , newer mali and power vr will be able to beat 430 as well

qualcomm dropped the ball this year , they can recover only if they can bring out custom 64 bit krait cores and show massive improvements in GPU.. As intel will be entering in mobile space in big way with 14nm and 10nm chips
